In their preview on the DualSense Edge, the editors of The Verge thoroughly tested the new PS5 pro controller and highlighted the problem related to the poor battery life. The well-known ‘technoludic’ portal therefore asked Sony for guidance: the Japanese company’s response was not long in coming.
In fact, a Sony spokesman explained that “the operating time of the DualSense Edge wireless controller is moderately shorter compared to that of the original DualSense because we have included many new features within the same design and form factor of the PS5 controller. We wanted to find a good balance between the wireless uptime and the high performance offered by the most important and advanced features of the controller”.
The representative of the Japanese technological giant also underlines the possibility, for DualSense Edge owners, to use the longer USB cable present in each PS5 pro controller package: “The longer USB interlaced cable it’s also great for competitive gamers who prefer to play over a wired connection to avoid the interference of a wireless connection. This option also preserves battery life (since the controller is powered by the PS5 via the USB cable, ed).”
