The developers at NetherRealm Studios may have indicated that the official reveal of “Mortal Kombat 12” is imminent. The studio apparently resorted to a PR measure that referred to the announcement of “Mortal Kombat 11” at the time.
In the past few weeks, there have been growing indications that NetherRealm Studios’ next major project will indeed be “Mortal Kombat 12”.
Leading figures behind the series have recently fueled the rumors – including Ed Boon, who, in addition to a release in the course of 2023, also promised the return of the Konquest mode and an announcement in the coming months. The developers at NetherRealm Studios are responsible for the latest speculation about the forthcoming announcement or unveiling of “Mortal Kombat 12”.
As is currently emerging, the studio could use the same method for the upcoming PR campaign for “Mortal Kombat 12” that was already used when the predecessor was announced.

The players discovered the supposedly decisive clue to the upcoming presentation of “Mortal Kombat 12” in the main menu of “Mortal Kombat 11”. Ads for DLCs have appeared here in the past few days. And this despite the fact that it was made clear a long time ago that no new content was planned for the 2019 offshoot. Fans will know that this type of promotional strategy is not new.
The PR department at NetherRealm Studios took a similar approach to “Mortal Kombat X” to draw attention to the upcoming announcement of the successor. For example, an almost 20 gigabyte update was released on Steam, which included no new features or content apart from a few ads for “Mortal Kombat 11”.

The rumors about “Mortal Kombat 12” are fueled by a data miner who wants to know that the new advertising banners in “Mortal Kombat 11” are in fact intended as a promotion for the successor. At the same time, he would like to have discovered placeholders for “Mortal Kombat 12” in the source code of the last update, which should also indicate an approaching announcement.
So far, however, nothing has been officially confirmed. Mortal Kombat 12 is likely to be in development for PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X/S.
Some datamining happened and they’re gonna use this to advertise their next game 😉 https://t.co/h3SCnLySBI
