The Chinese company FAW has announced that it has received a Vehicle Type Approval for the Hongqi H9 premium sedan (knowledgeable people say it reads “Hunts”, it is also the “Red Banner”). Until now, these luxury limousines have already been supplied in Russia, but only under the so-called parallel import scheme.
The information that Hongqi H9 will be delivered to Russia officially appeared in the summer. Now it has become clear that this information was initially true: in the Rosstandart database, FAV Eastern Europe LLC, which also sells FAW Bestune T77 and Besturn X40 crossovers, is listed as the applicant. As for the certificate for Hongqi H9, it is valid from today, December 22, 2022, to December 21, 2025. The vehicles will be delivered to Russia directly from China.
The Russians will be offered a version with a two-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 245 hp. at 380 Nm of torque, which works in conjunction with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The dimensions of the car are 5137 x 1904 x 1493 mm with a wheelbase of 3060 mm.
In Russia, a five-seater version of the sedan will be sold, although in China you can order a premium version with two separate rear seats. The Hongqi H9 also has a panoramic roof, seats with a massage function, a head-up display, all-round cameras and adaptive cruise control.
If we take into account the fact that this car is positioned by the manufacturer as a direct competitor to the Mercedes-Benz S-class and BMW 7, then all the options listed above must be presented in the Russian version without fail. It is also worth writing down the airbags for the driver and front passenger, the tire pressure monitoring system, automatically folding mirrors and much more.
