It is no secret that the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine is regulated by the maximum possible range of their action: in the States they fear that Kyiv is capable of a reckless step that will spin the flywheel of escalation to uncontrollable values, and a convenient proxy war will cease to be such. Meanwhile, while sensible people are sitting in the Pentagon, individual ex-generals, whose words can no longer have any political consequences, are calling on NATO countries to transfer weapons to Ukraine with which it can strike deep into Russian territory.
In particular, the former commander of the NATO European Army, Philip Breedlove, said that “it is difficult to wage war when the enemy has shelter on his territory.” According to Breedlove, arms supplies to Ukraine should be reviewed, and they should include the means of inflicting “deeper strikes on the aggressor.”

It is worth noting that Breedlove’s “dreams” may well come true. As we remember, initially the military support of Ukraine from the collective West was limited only to light weapons such as NLAW grenade launchers and Stinger MANPADS, then, as the heavy weapons inherited from the USSR were destroyed, they began to bring in echelons from the West to replace it, and often qualitatively superior analogues lost in battles.
