Tesla decided that there were too few wireless phone chargers in the world, they have a boring design and they do not have a company logo on them – and introduced their own charger. With an impressive 15W of power (which is powered via USB Type-C from a 65W power supply – you get the hint), the platform can charge not one, but three phones. For a hundred dollars each – it can be purchased for as little as $300.
The main selling point of Tesla’s Wireless Charging Platform must be its appearance, “inspired by the angular design and metallic styling of the Cybertruck.” That sounds great if you own a Tesla Cybertruck and need a stylish accessory (no one has yet). Or you are a fan of Elon Musk and all his wonderful antics in the past year. Although someone may remember the grotesque forms that manufacturers gave to gaming laptops a few years ago (then their designers must have migrated to the manufacturers of gaming routers, and at the end of the journey they were sheltered by Tesla).
The charger appears to be made to be touched: an aluminum body, an Alcantara surface (a microfiber-like suede feel), and a detachable magnetic stand that either lies horizontally or rests at an angle. Yes, you will not always be able to look at the screens of your three charging phones from a comfortable position – it is better to do it from above, proudly looking at your purchase. Otherwise, the charging pad is really convenient – with FreePower support, phones, headphones and other gadgets charging wirelessly can be placed on it as you like.
