It’s been an exciting year for all Resident Evil fans, not only has Resident Evil Village received DLC, but a full remake of Resident Evil 4 has also been announced. But that’s not all, fans also got a good laugh at Netflix’s incredibly bad Resident Evil series, which was canceled after just one season. But now there’s also sad news to announce, developers Capcom have shut down fan-made Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil Code Veronica remakes.

True fans of the series have set themselves the task of creating a remake of Resident Evil (buy now €38.99) 1 and Resident Evil Code Veronica in a small development team. But yesterday they announced that developers Capcom have intervened and stopped the project, even though the developers were already able to show initial results.

Developers had no commercial intentions
Right from the start, the developers made it clear that they didn’t want to earn any money with the two remakes, but that it was a fan project and they wanted to make the games available as free downloads. Even first alpha versions of the titles were released in different languages and regularly updated. Step by step, a final release was approached until Capcom pulled the plug.
While there was an admittedly outdated remake of Resident Evil 1, fans are still eagerly awaiting a new edition of the more than 20-year-old Code Veronica.
