Lenovo IdeaPad 5: this very balanced office laptop loses 200 euros

To equip yourself with a laptop PC without digging too much into your budget. It is better to bet on the mid-range. The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 succeeds in meeting this expectation, and this is all the more the case now since it benefits from a good promotion at Boulanger: 799 euros instead of 1000.

Intel’s supremacy is well and truly over in the laptop world: the American AMD is now on board. Lenovo has also chosen to give the chip manufacturer a chance for its IdeaPad 5 series. Multimedia-oriented, the IdeaPad 5 with a Ryzen 7 5700U processor offers excellent value for money. That’s good, Boulanger currently offers it cheaper with a nice reduction of 200 euros.

A powerful and well-finished laptop

Lenovo’s IdeaPad 5 series is in the mid-range. The laptops in this series are mainly designed for everyday use, between leisure and work, perfect for viewing different multimedia content. The 15ALC05 model that interests us here benefits from a discreet design, but rather elegant and well finished, with a matte graphite gray coating.

Its beautiful screen (15.6 inches) is ideal for watching movies and working comfortably. Its matte panel displays a standard Full HD definition of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The keyboard, as often with Lenovo, is large and pleasant to type. Thanks to its aluminum case, it is lighter and weighs only 1.7 kg, a very respectable weight for a 15-inch PC. This will make it easy to carry throughout the day.

The strong point of this IdeaPad model is undoubtedly its AMD Ryzen 7 5700U processor, coupled with 8 GB of RAM, which is also in DDR4. The computer is therefore generally fast, supported by Windows 11 which makes the interface fluid. The CPU concocted by AMD has eight cores all the same, clocked at 1.8 GHz (turbo boost at 4.3 GHz). The laptop will therefore do very well in multitasking, especially for the creation of content (video editing, photo, etc.). However, do not expect to run the latest games of the moment: the IdeaPad 5 15ALC05 does not have a dedicated graphics card. Regarding storage, you can count on a comfortable and responsive 512 GB SSD.

Generous connectivity and autonomy

The IdeaPad 5 offers fairly comprehensive connectivity for a mid-range computer. You can simultaneously connect your various peripherals, via an HDMI 1.4 port (too often forgotten), two USB 3.1 ports, a USB-C 3.1 port, an SD card reader and a jack socket. On wireless connectivity, the Lenovo computer relies on Wi-Fi 5 (Wi-Fi 802.11 ac) and of course, Bluetooth.

Finally, this model is widely distinguished by its great autonomy, offered by a 4-cell Li-ion polymer battery. The latter allows about 10 hours of autonomy in conventional use. The IdeaPad therefore proves to be the perfect model for those looking for a simple and fast 15-inch PC to take everywhere for lessons or work.
