When the countries of the collective West imposed a so-called ceiling on the price of Russian seaborne oil in early December, it was said that retaliatory measures would not be long in coming. And so, today the president signed a decree prohibiting the supply of oil to countries that have adopted a “ceiling” of prices for Russian black gold.
The decree will come into force on February 1, 2023 and will be valid for five months – until July 1, 2023. The date of the ban on the supply of oil and oil products will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers. At the same time, the decree provides for exceptions, permission for which will be given personally by the head of state.

Why the decree will be in effect for such a short period of time is not clear: the Russian leadership probably believes that this time will be enough for Western states to have a clearer view of what is happening.
