iPhone: Running out of space? As you can imagine, storage is an issue in any ecosystem! Everything, from the photos we share on social networks, to the games we play in the dead times of our day-to-day lives, is increasing in quality. What does it means? More space occupied! This happens on your desktop computer, laptop, tablet, and of course your smartphone.
But of course, as is obvious, this is undeniably a bigger problem on your smartphone, since for many long years, the big manufacturers have been selling mid/high range devices, or even top of the range, with very small amounts of storage internal.
In the case of the iPhone, in addition to little storage in the base models (the best sellers), we still have another problem, which is the inability to insert a microSD card to extend the capacity.
Didn’t get an iPhone 14 Pro in the shoe this Christmas? So it’s likely to have an iPhone with 64GB of internal storage, which is obviously short in late 2022. What to do?
iPhone: Running out of space? these are the possible solutions
Therefore, there are even some solutions at your disposal before changing your cell phone, making backups every day to your computer, or subscribing to iCloud for more cloud storage space.
Shall we take a look at your internal storage? The focus here is just one… Photos and Videos!
After all, where do you see the most videos and photos? In communication apps like WhatsApp, iMessagens, Facebook Messenger, etc… Photos, of course, have to be stored somewhere. It is here that we will get many good gigas, after a good cleaning.
That said, before you start erasing like it’s time for spring cleaning, it’s always a good idea to make a backup with your iPhone connected to your PC. You never know what might happen.
That said, instead of looking for photos and videos, file by file, the ideal is to go to the album and organize things by type, and then by size. Here we are going to look at the videos with eyes to see, because it is very likely that you have very old files, which you probably didn’t even know existed, and which nowadays are of no use.
Afterwards, it’s a good idea to also look at the photos, especially the famous screenshots, which tend to be in a separate folder, and which are probably no longer of interest. (A screenshot is always important to capture information at the moment. But it is almost always forgotten in the device’s memory, never to be seen again).
After everything is selected, click on the trash icon. Then go to the recently deleted folder, and delete everything again. (If you don’t, everything you’ve deleted will stay in the ‘Recycle Bin’ for 30 days)
After the dispatched albums, let’s go to the conversation apps, and we’ll clean up the unnecessary.
Need more space?
Finally, go to Settings, General, Storage, and see what is busy and why. For example heavier apps, like games that maybe you haven’t played in a while. It’s time to delete.
However, you can also opt for cloud storage solutions, such as Google Photos, which offers 15GB free. Nowadays it’s not much, but at least it’s free.
