The world’s third-largest smartphone maker, Xiaomi, has again updated its list of unsupported mobile devices for new software versions. This is the list where no user wants to see their mobile phone model, but it will eventually arrive for any and all products.
Now we have five new Xiaomi and POCO smartphones, relatively popular also in Portugal, whose golden days are over, as well as the updates. For these models, the company led by Lei Jun is the end of the line, no longer receiving updates from MIUInor new versions of the Android operating system.
End of the line for five Xiaomi smartphone models
The last update to the list of devices without official support took place on December 26, with the addition of five models from the Redmi and POCO brands. That is, two relatively affordable and popular smartphones that will be deprived of further updates.
If you are interested, you can confirm this decision published by Xiaomi in its Security Center. Then, at the end of the list, we have five new models, namely:
POCO X2Redmi K30Redmi K30 5GRedmi 8Redmi 8A
As informed by the brand itself, these devices are part of the list that will not receive new software updates or new security updates. Likewise, they do not say whether these models will receive emergency fixes if sufficiently serious security gaps are detected from now on.
The models have been on the market for a few years now and, despite remaining functional, it is only normal that they are gradually added to this list.
Redmi and POCO models without software news
Finally, it should be noted that, from this list, the only smartphone of the five models that reasonably had MIUI 13 was the POCO X2. However, it will remain so with MIUI 12.5 until the end of its days, without further official updates.
In any case, it is still possible to use third-party software. That is, unofficial firmware, created by programmers to give new life to these devices. Take the example of personalized ROMs or Custom ROMs.
