– Diane, you are now in Australia, preparing for the Australian Open. How is this process going?
– Good, but it is still difficult to acclimatize. I’m a little unaccustomed to this climate. In general, everything is fine, I am here with the coach and with my mother, I am training. During Christmas, all the courts were closed, so I had to hit the wall a little bit in the hotel. In a word, everything is fine, but hot. I also sleep a lot during the day. But otherwise everything is fine. Before that, I was in Nice for a week and a half, training there with a fitness trainer from the academy, with my trainer and sister.
– The Australian climate traditionally does not spare the players. I remember one year I had to play at a temperature of +43 degrees. Are there any life hacks on how to alleviate your condition while playing in such conditions?
– In January, here in Australia, I played against Martintseva in Adelaide. And then during the day, as far as I remember, the temperature was 40 degrees. It was very hot and at such moments the legs are very baked. And it’s not just hot and humid here, but also dry. Therefore, it is very difficult to breathe. What did I do? Between pranks, I constantly wet myself with a towel. I also wetted my mouth to make it a little easier to breathe. Of course, you need to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
