More and more details about motherboards with Intel B760 logic for LGA1700 processors appear on the Web. In particular, MSI’s MAG B760M Mortar Max will have a Renesas RC26008 external clock generator, which will enable overclocking of 12th/13th generation Core chips via boosting the reference frequency (BCLK). First of all, this is true for processors with a locked multiplier.
The above board, for example, made it possible to overclock the Intel Core i5-12400 processor (6 cores / 12 threads, 2.5 / 4.4 GHz) up to 5.0 GHz on all cores. To do this, the BCLK value had to be increased from the standard 100 MHz to 125 MHz.
In the Micro-Star International range, only the MAG B760M Mortar Max series motherboards will likely receive an external clock generator. At least that explains the markup for non-Max versions. See the recommended prices for other new MSI LGA1700/B760 products below.
The official announcement of motherboards with Intel B760 logic is expected on the third of January. At the same time, 13th generation Core processors with a locked multiplier will be introduced.
