The combat system of The Elder Scrolls is often seen as the weakest aspect of Bethesda’s RPG saga, and Skyrim is no exception. It is for this reason that the modder Machinegod 420 has created a Alternative combat system inspired by games like For Honor and Kingdom Come Deliverance.
The main objective of the mod (downloadable at this address) is to convey more realistic sensations to the player through a directional strike-based combat system. Also included are changes to damage and movement speed, and stamina has been added along with a stagger system.
“Do you want something more realistic (but not that realistic) than the usual action RPG mechanics?” says the modder. “Tired of jumping and rolling instead of dueling with swords? Want a little more depth in your melee combat? Then this mod is for you!
This is a directional combat mod, inspired by different melee fighting games such as Kingdom Come Deliverance e Mordhau, but it’s not an exact copy of any of them, it just takes their mechanics. It aims to add new mechanics and depth to the relatively meh combat system present in Skryim right now.”
Machinegod 420’s work could make 1v1 fights too difficult, and it is for this reason that it is recommended to add the “Wait Your Turn” mod by Monitor144 to make the fights more fair and balanced.
