With Tecno’s ambitions to become a leader in smartphone camera innovation, the company is looking for partners in the lens sector to enter the premium phone market. To GSM Arena, Tecno’s marketing director, Mr. Laury, on the occasion of the launch of the Phantom X2, stated that for this device they consulted with the professional photographer Rankin, for example.
The artist is known for making portraits of Queen Elizabeth II and Hollywood celebrities. In addition, he gave some tips and recommendations on how to make the best portrait camera and what are the essential functions to ensure a satisfactory device. And the result was a retractable design that combines large sensor at wide aperture (f/1.5), which results in adjustable focus, no computational tricks required; with the main lens of 64MP and 50MP in the Pro model, and 32MP front camera; 2MP depth sensor since it doesn’t have the portrait lens. Both handsets come with a 13MP ultrawide camera.
But the advance is not restricted to the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro, as the company has confirmed that it is talking to lens manufacturers with a wide range of market coverage for the development of future products. The company did not give names, but it is worth remembering that brands like Hasselblad, Leica and Zeiss are already closing contracts with smartphone manufacturers and, therefore, are unavailable, but new speculations can arise at any time.
On December 7th, Tecno launched both devices with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip. The normal model has 8GB of RAM, while the Pro has 12GB. The screen is of the AMOLED type, supporting a 6.8-inch 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution, in addition to the 20:9 aspect ratio and the protection guaranteed by Gorilla Glass Victus technology. The cell phone has a capacity of 5,160mAh and the charger has a power of 45W.
