A Wiki, once one of the most famous quality / price smartphone brands in Europe, along with the much-missed BQ, has just launched a new 5G smartphone with Huawei DNA. The exact outlines of this “partnership” are unclear, but they immediately caught our attention.
Currently, Huawei cannot use processors with a 5G modem, whether manufactured by itself or by third parties. Thanks to trade restrictions imposed by the United States of America, the Chinese manufacturer is currently deprived of 5G chipsets.
Wiko 5G ou Huawei Nova 9 SE?
Thus, all new Huawei phones are limited to 4G LTE networks, even those using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors, which is not ideal at all. Among these, we have the Huawei Nova SE, a recent and quite attractive mid-range smartphone.
It is precisely here that Wiko, a Chinese-French company, that will market the You know 5G. In practice, this is the Huawei Nova 9 SE with a new name, the classic classification of rebranding, thus escaping the restrictions imposed on the Chinese manufacturer.
We remember that Wiki is a company of French origin with Chinese capital. Now, the brand has decided to enter the Chinese market for mobile devices, currently the world’s largest market for mobile devices, and it has done so with this Wiko 5G.
It is nothing more than a Huawei Nova 9 SE with support for 5G networks
Looking at the list of technical specifications, the difference between Huawei smartphones – Nova 9 SE and the new Wiko 5G is literally just the network modem. That is, the Huawei phone sticks to 4G LTE, while the Wiko already has access to 5G.
Other than that, we have minor design differences, with a distinct color scheme to also help slightly differentiate the two products. Likewise, we can also observe the Wiko brand where the Huawei brand would normally appear.
Here we have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 chipset processor with 5G, 6.78” screen with Full-HD+ resolution and high refresh rate at 120 Hz. The touch registration rate is 270 Hz, with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of internal storage.
We can also point out the 4,000 mAh battery, with fast charging at 66 W. Its main camera is 108 MP + 8 MP (ultra wide angle), in addition to a third 2 MP sensor (macro). Finally, the front camera has 16 MP.
No surprises in the software, the phone uses the HarmonyOS operating system, which in China will be well accepted, with support for the brand’s mobile services, the HMS. Its retail price in China is equivalent to 269 € at the current conversion rate.
