Movano announces Evie smart ring that monitors women’s health and will hit the market at the end of 2023.
The main functions of the Evie smart ring will help you track:
heart rate at rest; changes in heart rate; SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation); respiratory rate; skin temperature; menstrual cycle and ovulation, as well as their symptoms; activity (steps, calories burned); stages and duration of sleep; mood.
The rest of the product details are still unknown – Movano promises to introduce the smart ring at CES next week. In addition, the company claims that it plans to obtain FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval for the product, but does not specify when this will happen:
Become an experienced director-level finance specialist!
“We plan to apply for a pulse oximetry measurement following the completion of a successful hypoxia trial in October 2022, where clinical SpO2 and heart rate accuracy has been demonstrated to meet the FDA consensus standard. While some products only have FDA approval for certain software (such as ECG and Afib), Evie is designed to regulatory standards and built in a medical device manufacturing facility that is ISO13485 and cGMP compliant.”
Movano says the ring will provide “reliable and personalized information” to women to help them “connect cause and effect” to their well-being. In addition, Evie will provide “data that clinicians can consider reliable for patient care.”
Obviously, this is a game changer after all – as companies move from a simple consumer space to something that is taken more seriously by medical professionals, insurance companies, and so on.
“As a medical device, Evie goes beyond other similar devices on the market, and we believe it has the power to change women’s lives and their overall health. We are bringing together medical biometrics in a convenient and modern medium that empowers women to take charge of their health,” CEO John Mastrototaro said in a press release.
The product is expected to come out in 2023, cost around $300, and charge no additional subscription fees.
