Thomas Nickel says: It has long been discussed whether this game should be included in this list as a remake. But with revised game systems, new balancing, a fresh interface, continuous voice output and, last but not least, fantastically recorded music, the timelessly brilliant tactical spectacle has clearly qualified – and that Tactics Ogre which opens with German lyrics for the first time is also not to be despised. The story of the civil war in Valeria is full of shady characters, and there is no simple black and white painting. Combat is always challenging but fair, and the individual leveling and equipping of troops is a feast for careful planners and strategists.
