Edition IGN released a large investigation dedicated to numerous cases of cheating in a hugely popular game Roblox. As it turned out, there are whole schemes, resorting to which children aged 13-14 years old manage to rob other players for impressive amounts – their weekly income amounts to thousands of euros. To the author of the material Luc Vincke managed to infiltrate the ranks of juvenile scammers, chat with several of them, and even get on a special Discord channel where they communicate.
The age of the criminals surprised the journalist the most. According to Luke, it never occurred to him that underage children are capable of using such professional fraudulent schemes, including elements of phishing and social engineering. Not believing that teenagers are capable of this, Vincke agreed to talk with one of them via audio communication, but he heard a voice that definitely belonged to a child.
The young swindler told the journalist that he spends money mainly on himself and his friends, and one of his last purchases was a powerful computer with a video card GeForce RTX 3090 – it cost him over two and a half thousand euros.
The basis of the Roblox business model is based on the sale of in-game items, however, it is quite problematic to withdraw funds, which has led to the emergence of a whole black market. Numerous sites allow you to put up a product for sale and receive a commission for their services, bringing customers to sellers.
Some hackers fraudulently obtain expensive game items from other players, then pass them through online casinos Roblox RBXFlip. After that, it is simply impossible to trace the stolen goods.
