Whether you’ve just bought a new smartphone or you’ve had it for a while, you should make some changes to make your Samsung Galaxy work as well as possible. In fact, these are things that don’t take a lot of time but are very useful.
Samsung Galaxy: the changes you really should do!
Disable access to Bixby via the power button
Although many people choose not to use Bixby, Samsung connects it to the power button. That said, if you don’t usually use it, you can undo this use. In fact, you can even use it for other very interesting things.
So we can change this function.
To do this we have to go to Settings > Advanced Features > Side Key and we can choose what the button does. We can configure the shutdown menu to appear. This will eventually be more useful for most users.
Change layout for main screen only
A few years ago, the application drawer was used a lot. However, perhaps due to Apple and even other Android manufacturers, it has started to fall out of favor. So if you want everything to be shown on the main screen and you don’t want to have an application drawer, you can make that change very easily. That said, swipe and pinch on the main screen and hit settings.
Then click on Home Screen Layout.
Finally in the new window choose Main Screen Only.
Not being disturbed by turning the smartphone face down
This is a very interesting function that is not always activated by default. In practice, it allows us not to be disturbed if we turn the smartphone screen downwards. We can also place our hand at the top of the screen to achieve the same effect.
You can easily check whether this function is enabled or not.
So start by accessing the settings.
Then access the advanced functions option. Then click on the option Movements and Gestures.
Undo or Redo on Samsung Keyboard
It probably undoes what you typed with the CTRL+Z key shortcut when you’re on your computer. Did you know that Samsung smartphones also have a very interesting way of doing the same?
In fact, Samsung’s keyboard allows us to undo what we write with a simple gesture. Remember this removes the last words we entered but not the individual letters. That said, just drag two fingers across the keyboard in any direction to undo or redo.
Block spam and suspicious calls
This is a function that we should really use, especially if we are tired of telephone sales. That said, as soon as we activate Caller ID and Spam protection, we can understand who is calling us, if it is a business contact.
To activate this function, we have to open the Phone app and then press the three dots to access the settings.
Then we have to click where it says Caller ID & Spam Protection.
However, in the new window we have to click where it says off to activate the function and at the bottom to block spam and scam calls.
However, there is one thing that we need to pay attention to. By activating this we can miss some important calls. From the bank, for example. So, it is best within this option to choose to block only calls from high-risk schemes. So most normal contacts will pass.
Add Widgets to Lock Screen
This is something very important. After all, if we put some important information on the lock screen, in many cases we don’t even have to unlock the smartphone.
First, we have to go to the Settings app. There we have to click where it says Screen locked.
Then in the new window we have to choose the option widgets.
Finally, all we have to do is choose which widgets we want to appear on the Lock Screen.
It’s actually quite simple.
However, as you can see, we are somewhat limited in terms of the widgets that we can place on this screen.
If you want to customize things a bit more, you can turn to an external app called Lockscreen Widgets. Unfortunately it is not free and costs 1.49 Euros. However, it is undoubtedly one of the best ways to customize our lock screen.
In addition, this app even allows you to add widgets to the lock screen on devices other than Samsung.
However, this app lets you customize a lot of things like the appearance, the layout and much more. For example, you can change the background color, activate or deactivate the shadow, adjust the number of rows and columns per page, hide widgets in specific operations among many other things.
In addition to all this, this app also allows you to customize the application drawer by adding widgets. Just like we do on the lock screen.
With these changes made to your Samsung Galaxy everything will be even better.
