Among the many gameplay innovations of Street Fighter 6 there will also be the Battle Hub, an original experience which will run alongside World Tour activities and competitive battles. To the microphones of Game Informer, Capcom’s Shuhei Matsumoto reveals an interesting background on the genesis of the Battle Hub.
The Street Fighter producer recalls the work done by his team and explains how the greatest inspiration for the Battle Hub was, yes, the closure of shops and social spaces in the most acute phase of the Coronavirus pandemic.
For Matsumoto, in fact, “above all because of COVID there haven’t been many opportunities in recent years for go to the arcade and socialize with their friends and peers. So while developing Street Fighter 6 we were like ‘what if we make the online version of an arcade? Are we really able to do that in Street Fighter?’ We took it as a challenge that we wanted to face at any cost, because we grew up in the era of arcades and that experience always brings back good memories.”
Before leaving you to the comments, we remind you that Street Fighter 6 will be available from June 2nd on PC, PS4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S. During 2023, thanks to the partnership between Capcom and Taito, we will also see the launch of the Arcade version of Street Fighter 6 in the arcade.
