Archived 2022 with The Callisto Protocollovers of horror games are looking forward to 2023 with great anticipation, a year that promises to offer numerous high-level productions in this specific videogame genre, including unpublished productions and great returns.
Among the various works in the pipeline, there are three in particular that are worth following carefully and that seem to have all the credentials to give great satisfaction to all lovers of Survival Horror (or even Action Horror). here are the three horror games to watch in 2023:
Dead Space Remake
In this case the wait will be really short: the great return of Dead Space it is in fact set for January 27, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 e Xbox Series X/S. Electronic Arts will re-propose the first, iconic episode of the series in a renewed guise and in step with the times, which promises to be faithful to the original game but at the same time also offering some novelties and changes that will make this Remake worthy of attention even by those who the 2008 classic ate it up in every way. And if the game turns out to be as high-quality as it appears to be, the hope is that Dead Space Remake is just the first step in the permanent return of the beloved horror series, whose latest unreleased game (Dead Space 3) dates back to the now distant 2013.
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Another of the most anticipated games of 2023 and also close to its release, scheduled for March 24th on PC, Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation consoles. Capcom has already demonstrated great quality with the remakes of previous games (especially with the remake of Resident Evil 2), and also the remake of the legendary Resident Evil 4 appears to be following the same path, promising to prove to be as compelling and engaging a product as the original. Indeed, compared to the 2005 masterpiece, Resident Evil 4 Remake it also seems to put more emphasis on pure horror atmospheres thanks to some small but significant changes in the design of the scenarios and enemies. Alan Wake II
Expected, dreamed and desired for years by the fans of the first chapter, Alan Wake II has finally come true. Unlike the other two games on the list, the next work of Remedy Entertainment does not yet have a definitive release date, however the developers say they are very confident that Alan Wake 2 will be released in the course of 2023, specifically on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, promising a game of excellent quality. The second chapter of Alan Wake aims to prove to be an even deeper and more disturbing psychological horror than its predecessor and, although very little has been seen for the moment, the credentials for a quality product already seem to be there. All that remains is to wait for the final release date.
And these are just a few names from an even larger list. Also in the course of 2023, the return of another classic of the genre is expected such as Alone in the Darkwhose first game will be revived through a modern makeover, and expects to find out which (or which) of the new games of Silent Hill announced by Konami will see the light during the new year (think in particular of the already highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake). All without forgetting the return of Project Zero/Fatal Frame: after being confined to Japanese soil for nearly 15 years, the fourth major game, Mask of the Lunar Eclipsewill finally make its Western debut next March, on all platforms currently on the market.
