Is the era of Youtube buried? This is what some content creators seem to think given the end of the year that was very different from previous ones, with notably declining statistics.
Summary
“Falling stats, changing content, big youtubers breaking…””Shorts take a place in the algorithm”
“Falling stats, changing content, big youtubers breaking…”
The world of the Internet changes very quickly, regardless of the years. A finding that can be observed in 2022 by many content creators. Le Joueur du Grenier has already mentioned having lost 50% of views and Cyprien said last week that he had done the worst channel launch with his short film Fujisan.
This is the filming in which I have invested the most, it is the WORST launch of a video on my channel. Hard blow. However, I remain no less proud of it and your messages make me very happy. https://t.co/BH1DrqzVHt

Something also recorded by the videographer CyrilMP4, evidenced by his tweet of December 24. A creator who set up his Youtube channel in 2010, he is at the top of the platform’s basket with almost five million subscribers. He gives his opinion on the crisis that Youtube has been going through for some time. He evokes the Christmas period, normally a period of abundance for Youtubers, which is not the usual Eldorado for those who have published their video on time:
It can’t be seen on the surface, but youtube is in the midst of a crisis. Falling stats, changing content, big youtubers breaking… Normally at Christmas it’s bombarding but there… 🥶

“Shorts take a place in the algorithm”
A declaration which caused the return of many creators of the platform like Sheshounet, Skyrroz or Carole Quintaine. Among the arguments raised, some underline the change in audience: long formats may have less of a place than they once did, especially since it seems that Youtube users only come there to relax. An argument that joins the second, for a question of format. With the emergence of the TikTok social network, short formats have multiplied and have invaded Instagram but also Youtube with shorts. something already mentioned by the Joueur du Grenier when he discusses his less and less viewed videos. Finally, the last argument raised lies in the presence of advertising: it is too frequent for some who have lost interest in the platform.
We’ve never seen so many shorts since we can monetize them… it’s sad to want to copy the TikTok format, we’re already eating it en masse on Insta.

In any case, many factors can explain the drop in Youtube traffic observed by creators at the end of the year. The platform’s algorithm may have changed (like Google’s at the start of the 2022 school year) and it will be the first to adapt next year who will succeed in attracting the most people. Something often achieved by younger videographers, like Mastu, Inoxtag and Michou on the rise this year.
