This is a unique adaptation that we will probably never see here. The recently animated Chainsaw Man manga will be back soon but in a very unexpected form.
Chainsaw Man is it over already?
It was one of the most anticipated anime adaptations of 2022, and while it didn’t quite meet the demands of the pickiest fans, it’s already unmissable. The TV series Chainsaw Man by studio MAPPA (Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen) has seen the end of its first season aired a few days ago and uncertainty remains regarding the future of this adaptation.
Even if it is difficult to imagine that the studio stops in such a good way, it is all the same a big question mark which surrounds a license having made so much talk about it for its trashy dimension pushing the limits of the kind. In France, the anime can be discovered on the Crunchyroll platform while the manga is available from Kazé editions. But if we talk to you about Chainsaw Man again, it’s for a completely different project that may never leave the borders of Japan.
A play… Chainsaw Man?!
The fall of 2023 will indeed see the emergence of a whole new form of adaptation for the Chainsaw Man manga, ones that we really didn’t see coming… This is a play called “Chainsaw Man: The Stage” announced for the months of September/October in Tokyo and Kyoto prefectures. Those who are lucky enough to be present in the stands are likely to witness something truly unique, the contours of which one can only vaguely imagine, as this format seems so unusual compared to the original work by Tatsuki Fujimoto. We know, however, that project lead Matsuzaki Fumiya has already cut his teeth on the theatrical adaptation of Banana Fish. He will be responsible for writing and directing “Chainsaw Man: The Stage”, whose official website was launched following this announcement. However, we will only know the details of the distribution of roles in the coming weeks.
