Behind its evocative name hides an event not to be missed for fans of Japanese animation in France. The “Manga Symphonic Odyssey” will meet you very soon in Paris!
One Piece, Ghibli, Pokémon… Maestro music!
Japanese animation has come a long way in our country, bringing in its wake everything that characterizes it: its richness, its panache, but also its music. Very great composers have allowed TV adaptations to occupy a major place in our memories, like Seiji Yokoyama for Saint Seiya whose work was honored last May in Paris via the “Saint Seiya Symphonic Adventure” concert. But animation fans in general can be reassured, the other anime are not forgotten and will even be the subject of a great symphonic concert at the Grand Rex very soon!
“Manga Symphonic Odyssey”: an event not to be missed
Organized for the very first time in France, the “Manga Symphonic Odyssey” invites us to rediscover the music of the greatest Japanese animated series as part of an exceptional symphonic concert planned at the Grand Rex in Paris. The meeting is set for Sunday April 16 and covers a very wide spectrum of Japanese animation, with recent works but also older ones that have marked several generations. On the Grand Rex stage, more than 70 musicians and 2 singers from the Yellow Socks Orchestra (a French symphony orchestra specializing in film music) will perform memorable music and credits under the direction of conductor Nicolas Simon.

Among the music mentioned, we will have the pleasure of appreciating both the compositions of Joe Hisaishi for the Ghibli studio films and the legendary themes of Shunsuke Kikuchi for Dragon Ball, including One Piece, Naruto, Attack on Titan, Pokémon and even Fullmetal Alchemist. Knowing that this list is not even exhaustive, we can expect a major event for fans of Japanese animation and for music lovers in general!
Expect to also recognize several music from the animated adaptations of My Hero Academia, Hunter x Hunter, Bleach, The Promised Neverland, Death Note, Tokyo Ghoul, Fairy Tail, Demon Slayer or even Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. The film Your Name by Makoto Shinkai should also be in the spotlight.
The “Manga Symphonic Odyssey” concert will take place on Sunday April 16, 2023 at 8 p.m. at the Grand Rex in Paris and reservations are already open.
