Samsung could make the Galaxy A34 a mid-range gaming-focused smartphone. While the Galaxy A range often disappoints for its performance, the brand seems to want to correct this defect by equipping its next mid-range with a fairly powerful SoC. The Galaxy A34 should thus allow you to play games that are not too greedy.

To kick off 2023, Samsung may introduce the Galaxy S23 alongside the new Galaxy A line and Galaxy S22 FE, all of which feature notable upgrades. However, the Galaxy A34 could be one of the most interesting novelties.
Galaxy A34: A powerful SoC to play comfortably
A new listing suggests there will be two SoC options for the Galaxy A34. The first would be the Exynos 1380 which has already leaked and which should also equip the Galaxy A54. The new SoC spotted in Geekbench’s listing is a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 which is an octa-core processor with two performance cores clocked at 2.6 GHz and six efficiency cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.

In contrast, the Dimensity 1080 is a mid-range SoC with performance close to that of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G. Although it’s a huge stretch to claim that the Galaxy A34 will be a gaming smartphone, it should be able to play a few games at medium graphics settings and enough RAM.
The Galaxy A34 would be a better choice for Galaxy A54 gaming fans, given that it will be priced lower.

Galaxy A34: The same design as the Galaxy S23 but still with a notch
According to previous leaks, the Galaxy A34 will share the design of the Galaxy S23 with a flat back and rounded edges. The vertical three-lens array will replace the rectangular photo module. Unfortunately, the smartphone will still have a notch instead of a punch to house the selfie lens.
What do you think of Samsung equipping the Galaxy A34 with a more powerful processor? Do you think this will help the brand given the fierce competition in the mid-range?
