As a Windows 11 user, you have many options to free up disk space. Unnecessary applications, temporary Windows Update files, and other multimedia content can take up a large portion of your hard drive. So it is really important to guarantee some capacity. It’s just that limited storage space prevents you from downloading necessary software and slows down your PC. If you’ve reached the space limit, we’ll tell you how to solve the problem.
Windows 11: How to Free Up Disk Space in Minutes
Delete files from previous Windows installations
First we have to go to research and then we start writing storage or cleaning recommendations. Then on the right side, just click on Open as shown in the image below.
Now a window will appear that shows the status of our disk. I draw special attention to the temporary files section.
Now look for the cleaning recommendations section. We can see, for example, in the image below that we can recover up to 5GB of storage.
More specifically and when we click on that option we see more specifically what is taking up space. This way we can clean up the previous Windows installation, downloads and what’s in the recycle bin.
Of course, we can still see other information such as large or unused files and unused applications.
Anyway what is most important here is the first part. If you don’t think about going back to Windows 10, then start by cleaning your previous Windows installations. After all, we have 6G busy. The same with transfers and recycling. We gained almost 9GB of space.
However, if you are really worried, we can take a walk through the other sections.
With everything selected, just click on the Clear option.
Then a window will appear to change that the selected files and their data will be permanently deleted. Then just click on Continue.
The process will start and we can follow the process in the cleaning recommendations window. In the meantime we can continue to do things in Windows.
Permanently delete what’s in the trash
Whenever you delete a file from your Desktop or any other folder, it is not permanently deleted. It is stored inside the “Recycle” folder, so you can retrieve it if necessary. Over time the Trash Bin can become the center of many deleted files that you no longer need. To properly free up space, you will need to permanently delete the contents of the Trash Bin.
So right-click on the recycle bin and choose the empty recycle bin option.
Delete temporary files
To remove temporary files you have to go to a section where you have been before.
First we have to go to research and then we start writing storage or cleaning recommendations. Then on the right side, just click on Open as shown in the image below.
Now a window will appear that shows the status of our disk. I draw special attention to the temporary files section.
Click on that section and choose everything you want to remove. Then just click on Remove files.
remove unnecessary apps
Go to settings and then to Applications. There choose installed applications.
Now just remove what you don’t need.
This way you will have much more storage space available on your computer.
