2023 promises to be a great year for streaming platforms and also for us, who will be treated to high-quality series and films. In fact, the productions that will be released next year will be essential to define a winner in the streaming war. Looking at what will arrive from the four big players, namely Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO and Amazon Prime, we quickly realize that there is one that stands out. But after all, can you guess, before reading, which platform wins in terms of streaming in 2023?
Netflix/Disney/HBO/Prime: the big premieres of 2023!
Netflix
Netflix will have many premieres of weight. However, we are clearly committed to quality rather than quantity. Of all that will arrive, these are the main productions that will hold us to the screen.
You – Season 4
You is one of those productions that really holds us to the screen. Sometimes it takes a little while to get into the series. However, when we become addicted, we don’t want anything else. In the new season and after everything that has already happened, serial killer Joe Goldberg has a new identity, a new location and a new object of love and obsession.
The last time we saw Joe he had fled from his wife’s charred remains and left their infant son on a friend’s doorstep. He was in Paris, looking for his next victim, single mother Marienne (Tati Gabrielle). But in Season 4, Joe lives in London under the name Jonathan Moore and teaches at a university. How and why he is there yet to be revealed. Suffice it to say, a whole new batch of fresh faces enter his deadly orbit. Will anyone finally be able to catch this killer?
The new season is divided into two parts. The first premieres February 9th, with part 2 arriving March 9th on Netflix.
The series can be seen here. Undoubtedly a big bet for this streaming platform for 2023.
The Crown – Temporada 6
The British monarchy can last a few more centuries and The Crown will be here to tell us everything. Imelda Staunton returns as Queen for the final season, as she seeks to capture the aftermath of Princess Diana’s (Elizabeth Debicki) tragic death. Our guess is that The Crown season 6 will span from 1997 to 2002, a year marked by the monarch’s Golden Jubilee and the death of two family members. However, with the introduction of Prince William’s university classmate Kate Middleton, Season 6 will keep an eye on the future.
You can see the series here.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
The imperious, gossip-loving Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) has become a major character in Bridgerton, so it’s only natural that she would bring life to the first spinoff that could be a hit on Netflix. Thus the prequel chronicles Charlotte’s youth and her rise to royalty after marrying King George III. We also have appearances by Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton, along with their younger versions.
However, the series can be viewed here.
In other words, Netflix has good bets for 2023. But looking at everything that Disney Plus will receive, we are impressed. In fact it may be the streaming queen in 2023.
Disney Plus
The Mandalorian – Season 3
Din Djarin and Grogu are finally back in town and have unfinished business. This season will see the duo spend time among what’s left of Djarin’s Mandalorian companions, and that includes Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), who is likely still bummed about Mando having the Darksaber. Little else is known about what’s next for Disney Plus’ favorite duo, but if the quality of Seasons 1 and 2 has taught us anything it’s that this has to be one of the best premieres ever.
Premieres on March 1, 2023.

Secret Invasion
Marvel’s first major production of 2023, Secret Invasion, really promises a lot. In fact, everything where Marvel puts its hand promises. Even series with a more comic character like She-Hulk work very well. However, this one can still hold us more to the screen. The series stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, supported by Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos, whom we met in Captain Marvel. As a motto it seems that a group of shapeshifting Skrulls have infiltrated the highest points of the organization. However, it’s up to Fury and Talos to take them down. Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman are also in the series and Kingsley Ben-Adir appears to play the villain.
It arrives in spring.

Echo
Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) is the latest Marvel character to be given the right to tell her story. That said, she takes center stage when she returns to her hometown and tries to “connect with her Native American roots.” Unfortunately, her actions in New York are following her home. This in the form of Kingpin (Vince D’Onofrio) and Daredevil (Charlie Cox). Interestingly, however, two cast members from the American FX series Reservation Dogs — Devery Jacobs and Zahn McClarnon — are also on the show.
Arriving in summer 2023.
Loki – Season 2
The very original God is back. However Loki now has to remind everyone who he is. Yes, the season 1 finale of Loki saw Sylvie (the female loki variant) kill He Who Remains (a Kang variant), and shatter the sacred timeline. So when Loki returned no one recognized him. And the face of He Who Remains was all over the statues in the building. So far, all we know is that Loki was apparently able to jog Mobius’ (Owen Wilson) memory, and the two are working together to clean up the multiverse chaos in Season 2 of Loki.

X-Men 97
Anyone who used to watch X-Men cartoons when they were younger will love this new series. In fact, it arrives loaded with nostalgia. However, things will not be quite the same. It looks like a darker series and with significantly improved animation. One thing is right. It will hook many Disney Plus users.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos
Agatha Harkness was a very interesting character and at the same time the villain of WandaVision. She made such an impact on people that many asked for her own series and here she is. All because Disney listened! From her we should get more information about Agatha’s past and how she will move forward after losing her magic in Westview.
Ahsoka
Ahsoka Tano has been a much-loved Star Wars character. At least for animation fans. But she has since had her live-action debut portrayed by Rosario Dawson on The Mandalorian and is now finally getting her own series. While we haven’t seen a trailer yet, we do have some ideas of what the story will entail. The series will focus on his hunt for Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn after the events of The Book of Boba Fett and bring back many of his former friends from the Star Wars Rebels animated series, including Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). It looks like we might get some flashbacks too, with Hayden Christensen returning as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and a younger version of Ahsoka. A beautiful series to watch on streaming in 2023.
It will really be a very rich 2023 for Disney Plus.
However, HBO also has good tricks up its sleeve.
HBO
The Last Of Us
This is arguably the first major series of 2023 to debut on streaming platforms. In fact, adapting HBO’s The Last of Us is huge. Not just because HBO is reportedly spending tens of millions per episode, but because it’s based on one of the biggest video game franchises of all time.
After the world is devastated by a fungus-based pandemic that has altered brains and turned people into hideous beings like zombies, Joel (Pedro Pascal) is assigned to smuggle young Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out west. Because? Well, the mission isn’t exactly clear, but her survival is crucial to the future of humanity. Players already know that The Last of Us will break your heart. However, we are curious if and how this HBO version will differ from the original.
Premiere January 15th.
White House Plumbers
When E. Howard Hunt (Woody Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux) began their covert operations, they assumed they would be ensuring the continuation of the Nixon Administration, not bringing about its downfall. Of course, that didn’t go as planned, with the phone tapping of the Democratic Party headquarters at the Watergate Hotel. This series should have everything we could want in a political drama based on true events: shocking revelations, compelling performances, a touch of nostalgia and (probably) just a little bit of stretched truth.
You can see the series here.
Succession – Season 4
Fresh from winning Best Dramatic Series at the Emmys and Golden Globes, HBO’s best show returns for its fourth season in 2023. And the return of the dysfunctional Roy family doesn’t seem to be coming soon. The bombshell revelation that Logan Roy (Brian Cox) is preparing to sell the family business to tech mogul Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) leaving his son’s chances of succession in tatters is sure to lead to a terrible fallout.
After three seasons of struggle, it looks like Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) will have to come together to reclaim what they consider to be their birthright. In fact, they might even be able to drag in older brother Connor (Alan Ruck) assuming his presidential aspirations don’t get in the way.
It arrives in spring.

Amazon Prime Video
Among the novelties, the main highlight goes mainly to a series.
Daisy Jones and the Six
Is a successful rock band in the 1970s falling apart because of complicated relationships between some of its members? No, this is not a Fleetwood Mac biography, although author Taylor Jenkins Reid certainly got something out of it.
Adapted for series, Daisy Jones and the Six follows the epic rise and fall of an iconic band led by charismatic vocalists Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin). At the height of their fame and after a sold-out show in Chicago, the band dissolved. Decades later, they finally reveal the truth about what really happened.
