Game:Project RubPublisher:SegaDeveloper:SEGAGenre:SkillTested for:DSAvailable for:DSUSK:Released in:4 / 2005
Sega sends you on the prowl: The target is not innocent deer or an enemy sniper, but a very lovely female being that your alter ego has cast an eye on. Your story task is to draw the attention of the lovely beauty to you in almost 30 beautifully presented mini-games.
The palette ranges from simply blowing out candles and spraying declarations of love on unsuspecting brick walls to daring unicycle tours over yawning urban canyons. You swirl the protagonist’s stomach contents by waving your stylus or blow into the DS microphone, which means that your sailing boat gains momentum. As a bonus, there is a funny animated jukebox and outfits that can be unlocked (eg by inserting Sega GBA titles).
Opinion & Rating
Matthew Schmid says: Mission accomplished: Project Rub fulfills its job as a launch title with flying colours, making the player familiar with the innovative control options within a few minutes. The numerous possible uses of the stylus work perfectly and give hope for more titles. You can safely ignore the directional pad during all of these minigames – the only things that are used are the drawing pen and the built-in microphone. Although all tests are completed after a few hours, all disciplines invite you to try again for the high score – thanks to the ‘Memories’ mode, they can be selected individually at any time. I am also consoled by the noisy design and the constant good-mood tinkling over the low depth of the game.
Entertaining skillful fun that cleverly uses the possibilities of the DS.
