There is great anticipation towards Street Fighter 6the new main game in the iconic Beat ’em up series Capcomwhich will make its debut on PC, Xbox Series X/S and consoles PlayStation on June 2, 2023.
Development is proceeding at a rapid pace, with fans who have also been able to try the game again thanks to the second Closed Beta of Street Fighter 6 and test the continuous progress made by Capcom in recent months. Through an interview with Game Informer, also, the director Takayuki Nakayama and the producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya have revealed further details on the creation of the work, confirming that the development did not require any kind of compromise and that everything the two authors have imagined for Street Fighter 6 will be regularly present in the complete version.
“It’s rare that games hit the market with everything the development team wanted to include. There’s always some sort of compromise to be made or ideas to be scrapped due to budget, time and resource issues. But in this occasion, regarding the fundamental aspects that Nakayama wanted to include in his dream project, it is as if we didn’t have to make any kind of omissions or compromises for the game,” says Tsuchiya.
The producer then explained that his and Nakayama’s goal with Street Fighter 6 was to create a title that could also attract the attention of those who are not fans of fighting games, taking inspiration from the previous episodes of the series and in particular from the legendary Street Fighter II. “The concept proposed by Nakayama was to go back to what was done at the time of Street Fighter II. We wanted to make a Street Fighter that was not only aimed at fans of the series, but also at any other player and thus make them fall in love with fighting games. When Nakayama came up with this concept, and I was immediately struck by it. It was a challenge, but worth tackling,” says Tsuchiya.
Previously Capcom revealed that the Street Fighter 6 Battle Hub was born due to Covid, expanding Nakayama and Tsuchiya’s vision even further with the sixth chapter of the series.
