A Tesla sold 405,278 electric cars during the last quarter of 2022, setting a new record for the brand. The number was well above that of 2021, when the company delivered 308,600 vehicles in the category during the same period to its customers.
Even so, the number was slightly below expectations, as Wall Street estimates had a number of around 418,000 in that period of the year. Among the models sold, the highlights were the Model 3 and Model Y, which together totaled 388,131 sales.
The total cars Tesla produced in the fourth quarter of 2022 reached 439,701, which also turns out to be a record. In general, even if it was below what was expected, it can still be considered as something positive, since the acquisition of Twitter took a lot of attention from Elon Musk, with the company’s car shares falling as a result of the billionaire’s attitudes towards front of the social network.
However, there were also other factors that prevented the company from going further during the year that ended. In this sense, it is worth mentioning the restrictions that China has imposed in the country due to the increase in cases of Covid-19, which led the company to reduce production at its factory located in Shanghai.
In the last year, Elon Musk’s company had a 69% drop in its shares. Therefore, it was not one of the happiest 2022 for electric car makers. Finally, the complete results will be published by the company on the day January 25thwith more details about the company’s performance over the past year.
