Who is considered the ancestor of BioShock will he finally come out of the shadows? Announced a long time ago, the remake of System Shock finally seems to have decided to seriously prepare its release and, believe it or not, it’s coming soon.
Bioshock’s ancestor finally dated for real?
Victim of countless postponements, will the remake of System Shock end up being released one day? The title has indeed taken the annoying habit of becoming more and more discreet over time, despite some flashes in terms of communication. Last April, it was seriously believed that the software was being finalized after being announced in 2016 via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. But here we are already in 2023 and while even the most optimistic had every reason to fear the worst, the title resurfaces with the promise of releasing next March !
Happy New Year and see you in 3 months!
In their happy new year message posted on the official page of the System Shock remake Kickstarter campaign, the developers of Nightdive Studios explain the reasons for the radio silence of the past few months and promise a launch as early as March.
Welcome to the New Year, Hackers. After our return from Gamescom, we were hesitant to share anything so as not to spoil the surprises we have in store for you. However, we’ve picked out a few final things to share ahead of our rapidly approaching launch window in March 2023. As some of you have already pointed out, this isn’t the first time we’ve announced a launch window. tentative, but over the past few years a lot has changed: the scope and scale of the project has grown dramatically, and with the arrival of Prime Matter, we’ve been able to focus on quality improvements to life, bug fixes and localization support – the final major steps towards releasing a game that we are all very proud of. It also gave us time to go back and tweak various aspects of the game that needed an extra boost. – Nightdive Studios sur Kickstarter
The message is supplemented by a number of details regarding the latest changes made to the game system, including a greater diversity of enemies and additional effects for weapons and dismemberments. The developers want to pay tribute as best as possible to the original System Shock of 1994, even if it means testing the patience of players. A patience that should therefore finally be rewarded in March with the release of this highly anticipated fan remake.
The remake of System Shock is expected for the month of March 2023 on PC and Xbox and Playstation consoles.
