The year is starting, but there is already talk of the next Apple smartphones with a presentation scheduled only for September. At issue are the new iPhone 15 which, by all indications, will receive several interesting news.
The most recent thesis reports a significant improvement in the photographic department of these devices. It is believed that the iPhone 15 will feature the same 48 MP sensor that Apple debuted this year on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus with 48 MP main camera
After several years “stuck” to a main sensor with 12 MP resolution, Apple finally decided to make the leap at the end of 2022. It did so with the introduction of a 48 MP sensor exclusively in the Pro models of its iPhone smartphone line 14.
Complying with tradition, the American technology company should migrate this technology to more accessible models one year after this event. Indeed, the iPhone 15 will benefit from all the advantages provided by the new 48 MP sensor.
This is the thesis raised by Jeff Pu in his most recent report alluding to Apple’s next mobile devices. According to the analyst, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will feature a new main sensor inherited from the iPhone 14 Pro.
Even so, he points out that we should not expect a similar strategy with regard to the telephoto and LiDAR sensors of the iPhone 14 Pro. These will continue to be exclusive to Apple’s Pro models, serving as one of the incentives to purchase the more expensive models.
The new 48 MP sensor introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro uses a technology that joins four adjacent pixels into one and that, in theory, will improve its performance especially in low light. The result is images with a resolution of 12 MP, but it is possible to enjoy the 48 MP with RAW photography.
Jeff Pu also takes advantage of the occasion to reinforce the introduction of the USB-C port in the next Apple smartphones. A change that comes in the wake of legislative changes promoted by the European Union that require the use of a common input in all electronic equipment susceptible to charging.
Other rumors also report the adoption of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 15, which means that the 2023 base models will no longer have a notch. However, the difference in processors will continue, with these models using the A16 Bionic present in the iPhonr 14 Pro.
