After the beauty of 29 years since the publication of the fighting game, the Mortal Kombat 2 source code was shared on the Internet, allowing the community of the acclaimed series to make new discoveries on the title originally developed by Midway Games.
At the time of its debut, Mortal Kombat 2 was one of the most awaited titles by video game enthusiasts, considering the great success enjoyed by the progenitor of the franchise which is still among the most important fighting games ever. Today, through the analysis of leaked material online, it is possible to do new discoveries on the cult game dated 1993.
Discovered among the source code there is evidence of new moves, combo, stage and more. There’s even a strange blue-skinned version of Scorpion hidden between lines of code, but there’s no explanation as to who the character is or what he’s doing there behind the scenes. As you can see through the posts that we have reported below, some users are already sharing some of the animations and sprites that the development team has given up, and which have not even been recovered in view of the subsequent chapters of the series. Among the discoveries made previously, we had also discovered how Midway Games had a different logo in mind for Mortal Kombat 2.
