The power supply is the heart of your gaming machine, and when choosing it, it is very important to consider not only its level of efficiency and power factor, but also its resistance to stress and wear in order to avoid fatal consequences not only for the unit, but also for the components of the entire system. Today we will present you the “bronze” DK PREMIUM 800W – a quiet and very reliable device from 1STPLAYER.
1STPLAYER in Russia is not the most popular brand. Meanwhile, it was founded back in 2010 in the city of Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China. The company quickly gained fame as a supplier of not only high-performance, but also high-quality and affordable peripherals and PC components.
The brand’s product line includes computer cases, cooling systems, including liquid ones, all types of peripheral devices – from speakers to keyboards and mice. In addition, 1STPLAYER makes great gaming chairs and high quality power supplies. The latter are presented in ten series.
One of the new units, the powerful and reliable PS-800AX from the DK PREMIUM line, became a guest for our review. We will show you what the device that comes with the kit looks like and tell you about its key features.

Equipment and design
The PS-800AX is packaged in a large black box with a black and white glossy finish. The cooler of the device is illustrated on the front side and a bronze certificate flaunts. The characteristics are not indicated on the box, only the general qualities of the power supply.
Behind the double lid is a dense, impact-resistant polyethylene foam pad. The inner box is assembled from the same material, in which the block is folded. The device comes with a power cord, a bag with black ties and screws for fixing the PS-800AX, as well as a detailed instruction book with a Russified guide.
The design of the PS-800AX is as simple as possible: a black, all-metal and semi-gloss box, 140 by 150 millimeters wide and 86 millimeters high. On the outer side there is a mesh air duct with fairly wide holes, a power button and a connector for the power cable.
The 1STPLAYER-designed fan sits on top, a gray 120mm cooler encased in metal rings. On the opposite side of the cooler, the specification of the device (voltage, hertz, etc.) is indicated. The quality of the materials is striking – the PS-800AX has a representative look: a solid frame, high-quality fasteners, the body does not creak or bend even with serious efforts.
PS-800AX is not a modular power supply, but the wires are flexible and quite long. I had no problems installing and running cables through the entire back wall of the large case. Their length is more than enough to power each element of the system, they are conveniently and obediently bent and fixed.
In stock 24PIN connector for powering the motherboard, 8PIN (4+4) connectors for connecting to the processor, 8PIN (6+2) connectors for supplying power to the video card. In addition, two long wires are provided with a total of four SATA connectors for hard drives, and two IDE connectors for powering case fans.
The device is easily mounted in an ATX case, fixed with supplied screws. After installation, you can proceed to the management of wires, and here, if your case does not provide for storage systems, ties will be very useful, again, complete ones.
Features and impressions
The first thing to note is the efficient operation of the PS-800AX cooling system. The fan is equipped with a hydraulic bearing, which provides it not only with increased wear resistance, but also with reduced noise level. This is an expensive solution, but extremely useful for a device such as a power supply. Yes, this is not the quietest of all the PSUs that I have tested, but case coolers jam its cooling by 100%.
The PS-800AX is equipped with a power factor corrector, i.e. active PFC (Power Factor Correction), which, unlike the more budgetary passive option, improves the unit’s response to short voltage dips, and generally increases the voltage, providing an improved power factor.
One of the advantages of the device, the manufacturer notes the main capacitor in the standby power circuit, manufactured by the Japanese company Toshin Kogyo, which guarantees an extended service life and high quality of work. There is also a single 12-volt line that limits the current in the circuit to prevent dangerous heating of the carrier conductor.
PS-800AX is protected by UVP, OVP, OPP, SCP and Lightning Protection technologies. UVP is responsible for protecting the system from undervoltage, OVP – from overvoltage. If the voltage in the line exceeds the allowable values set by the manufacturer, the source will automatically turn off.
OPP is a power overload protection technology for the system unit, that is, if a combination of components requires more power than the PSU can support, OPP initiates a shutdown of the equipment. And SCP provides the device with protection against short circuits.
The PS-800AX power supply has 80 PLUS Bronze energy efficiency certification. It is believed that such a certificate implies an efficiency of at least 85% for half the load of the maximum power of the PSU. In the Energy Star odds table, he comes next, after the first 80 PLUS White. As a rule, it is recommended to purchase a PSU of the “bronze” standard and higher for guaranteed good energy efficiency.
Conclusion
DK PREMIUM 800W PS-800AX – the device is quite interesting. The main disadvantages of the power supply include non-removable cables and not the quietest possible cooler, but with all this, the fan is reliable, protection against all kinds of threats is excellent, and the energy efficiency of the device is at a very decent level.
It is worth noting that 1STPLAYER gives a 3-year warranty on this power supply, and the declared time to failure is within 100 thousand hours. And finally, not the last advantage of the PS-800AX power supply is an extremely competitive price, against which all the above-mentioned advantages look especially interesting, and the disadvantages fade.
