Most cars today have self-folding mirrors. When they are not automatic, many people have the habit of collecting them. Now the simple mistake of the mirrors not being collected works as a sign for thieves that the car is easily available to be stolen. This is especially true in the case of a modern vehicle. It’s just that when the mirrors are not retracted, this usually means that the car is unlocked.
This mirror-related conclusion came through a study. In it convicted car thieves spoke to university investigators and mentioned that they usually looked for expensive cars with unreturned mirrors.
Cars that are like this mean thieves don’t have to worry about any security devices and can steal any valuables left inside.
Interestingly, most robberies occur to drivers who don’t bother to lock their cars when it’s just to get the newspaper or something similar.
Usually thieves don’t want to be trying the doors as they are sensitive and trigger an alarm. However if the mirrors are open it means the car is unlocked and no alarm goes off.
As I mentioned, this happens mainly in modern models that fold the mirrors automatically.
So small gestures can save our car from theft and this is the most important thing to remember. It’s just that things especially with the recession are complicated and as such there’s little care!
