After returning to explore the world of Isaac with the prequel The Legend of Bum-Bo, Edmund McMillen 2023 begins with excellent news: the resumption of work on Mewgenics.
Originally announced over 9 years ago, the title was later cancelled. Now, however, the author of The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy is ready to return to devote his time. For the last few years, Edmund McMillen has been developing the project in secret, aided by a small team of developers and by Tyler Glaielprogrammatore e game designer per titoli quali The End is Nigh, Closure, Succubox e Bombernauts.
After numerous experiments, the duo turned Mewgenics into a peculiar one roguelike based on stray cats! Players will have the task of guiding the activities of a sort of feline refuge, in which they will be able to try their hand atbreeding of the most disparate types of cats. By creating the perfect four-legged team from time to time, it will then be possible to lead them on an adventure in the chaotic world of Mewgenics, to face over 200 enemies and interact with crazy NPCs. One mission after another, players will conquer new mutations to be exploited for the breeding of new species of cats, as well as objects to customize and expand your shelter.
At the moment, Mewgenics is in an advanced stage of development, but it won’t be ready for another 18 months of work, with McMillen and Glaiel aiming for a launch of the title in 2024. Alongside the most promising Indies arriving in 2023, the roguelike is therefore a candidate to attract the attention of fans of the genre for next year.
