The first years of PlayStation 5 have been characterized by a clear shortage of stocks, where not only to the pandemic of Covid-19 but also to the semiconductor crisis, two events that have significantly slowed down the production of home platforms Sony.
More than two years after the launch of PS5 on the market, the situation seems to be starting to improve more and more: production is becoming more intense, and in some territories of the world there is a more consistent availability of both the console Standard that of that Digital. In recent weeks, for example, the PS5 bundle with God of War Ragnarok has invaded the United States, with huge quantities of consoles regularly available in stores. A similar situation seems to be taking place in Japan too, at least according to the prices of the plummeting scalpers.
As noted on Twitter by the reporter Takashi Mochizuki Of Bloombergscalpers are now selling their PS5s at lower prices compared to the official ones in the price list, a sign of how even on Japanese soil it is becoming increasingly easier to find the Sony console in the shop and there is no longer any need to go to scalpers and their excessively inflated prices to recover it. Specifically, now you can find several advertisements of the version with optical reader offered at 56,000 yen (about 423 euros), while the Digital drops to 50,000 yen (about 359 euros). In 2023 the situation seems destined to improve further, in the hope that even in Europe, including Italy, the diffusion of the more recent PlayStation become much more concrete than seen in the recent past.
Meanwhile, it seems that a new model of PS5 could be announced at CES 2023, although for now there are no confirmations in this sense.
