The Apple Studio Display monitor now has a direct competitor in Samsung’s new monitor for professionals. This is the brand’s first monitor to make the leap to 5K resolution and which, in addition, delivers features present in the Cupertino monitor.
The new product from the South Korean giant, dubbed the Samsung ViewFinity S9, arrives as a new brand bet. It is clearly aimed for professional use, for those looking for a reference monitor, with high resolution and focused mainly on work.

This product incorporates several improvements over the previous model, ViewFinity S8, such as a larger screen, more color accuracy and improved presentation of the various shades. The build quality is even better, as well as its functions.
Samsung thus adopts, for the first time, in one of its monitors, the greatest resolution to date with 5K, more specifically, 5120 pixels by 2880 pixels in length and width. Do it on a screen like 27 inch IPS LCD.
Furthermore, this new Samsung product has an anti-reflective treatment and coating for the screen, with a matte finish. There’s also a guarantee of 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, as well as compatibility with the HDR600 standard.

Still with the aim of facilitating color calibration on its Samsung ViewFinity S9, the company has provided the monitor with compatibility and connection to the smartphone. It is, in fact, through the Samsung Smart Calibration application that the precise color adjustment is carried out.
Furthermore, through the application it is possible to change various aspects of the image presentation such as color temperature and white balance. This as well as the gamma value, among other parameters with a direct influence on the RGB color presentation.

It should also be mentioned that its software is Tizen TV OS, so this rival of Apple’s Studio Display essentially manages to transform itself into a 27-inch Smart TV. So, for entertainment, or when the occasion calls for it, this work monitor can transform into a small smart television.

Finally, like several other products presented at CES Las Vegas 2023, Samsung has not yet confirmed the price and possible availability of the new Samsung ViewFinity S9 monitor.
