Where am I? And what am I doing here? These are the first questions that come to mind when you wake up and are only partially answered by a loudspeaker announcement: You are in The Entropy Centre on the moon and supposedly works there as a puzzle expert. But why no one else is present, why everything is clearly in a state of decay and why the earth seems to be exploding, remains open for the time being. So you make your way through the corridors and soon find a weapon-like tool called the “portable entropy device” equipped with Astra – a chatty “puzzle assistant” AI – who henceforth will instruct and help you solve the mysterious to clarify circumstances.
So far the basics of The Entropy Centrewhich is best thought to be a close cousin of the Puzzle Prime Portal can be described and is not only inspired by it in terms of scenario and staging. Here you do not place or cross any teleporter gates, but rather manipulate time to solve puzzles. With your quasi-gun you have the ability to “rewind” certain objects – including cubes, but also collapsed walls and the like – a bit. An example: If you have picked up a block and placed it on a switch to open a door, for example, you can “shoot” it back to its previous position as long as the previous movements did not take more than about 30 seconds. That sounds pretty abstract without a visual illustration, but thanks to Astra’s explanations it’s quickly understood in practice and proves to be an intelligent mechanism that harbors a lot of puzzle potential.
In the first-person perspective, you work your way through 16 chapters most of the time through puzzle chambers that are regularly peppered with new aspects: You encounter different types of cubes that shoot laser beams, for example, or light bridges, catapults and trampoline platforms, treadmills and more , which constantly demand fresh solutions from you. It succeeds Entropy Centre the balancing act between challenge and accessibility is impressive – even if a task initially seems impossible, the solutions can always be found with a little pondering and can be carried out logically and with not too much effort.
