The future of the franchise of The Last of Us is currently ensured by the arrival of the homonymous TV series, by the release of The Last of Us Parte I are PC next March 3 and since confirmed The Last of Us Multiplayer still shrouded in mystery, but there are many fans who dream of a real third chapter.
There is currently no certainty about the existence of a new episode for the franchise, with the creator Neil Druckman who invited fans not to trust the insiders on the rumors about The Last of Us Part 3. However, this absolutely does not mean that a third main title will not arrive in the future, sooner or later, and it is the same co-president of Naughty Dog to reveal that the series still has so much to tell.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter focusing on the TV adaptation of the first game, Druckmann spoke briefly about the series as well PlayStation and, although without confirming the existence of The Last of Us Parte 3, suggests that sooner or later it could become a reality. “I believe that there are more stories to tell”, Druckmann limits himself to affirming, a few words that are still enough to keep fans of Joel ed Ellie at attention.
In April 2021, the director confirmed that Naughty Dog has already written a draft of the plot of The Last of Us Part 3, specifying however that this absolutely did not mean starting work on the project. It therefore seems clear that a third The Last of Us could only become reality in many years, but in the meantime further productions connected to the franchise will try to deceive the long wait.
