PlayStation 5 was launched globally in November 2020. But taking into account all the constraints in its production, in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, demand turned out to be much higher than supply.
As such, until recently it continued to be difficult for many fans of the Sony console to be able to effectively acquire it. But according to the latest figures, that will be a thing of the past.
Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, gave a press conference in the last few hours during CES 2023. And he revealed that December 2022 was the strongest month ever in PlayStation 5 sales.
PlayStation 5 has already reached 30 million units sold
The executive stated that PlayStation 5 sales have already surpassed 30 million units globally since launch. It is recalled that the company had sold 25 million units of PS5 until September last year.
Estimates are that during the last financial quarter, Sony sold 3.3 million units. And this is due to the fact that it is increasingly easy to find the PS5 on sale, according to the executive.
“PS5 supply improved towards the end of last year and I’m happy to share that December was the biggest month for PS5 console sales and we’ve sold over 30 million units to consumers around the world.”
PS5 is getting easier and easier to find, according to Sony IE CEO
The president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment also stated that “everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers around the world, from this moment on”.
This means that component shortages, as far as PlayStation 5 is concerned, seem to be a thing of the past. If you still haven’t managed to buy Sony’s latest console, it’s something that seems to be getting easier.
