It is true that when we talk about Game Freak, we immediately think of Pokémon and for good reason: the iconic Japanese studio is at the origin and turns out to be the original father of almost all the episodes. Nevertheless, he also allows himself a little freedom with a completely different project.
A new game not so new
If Game Freak is obviously known for being behind the Pokémon saga, you should know that the studio ventures from time to time towards other horizons. Among others, we can mention Little Town Hero which was released in 2019 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One which proposed to defend his village against an invasion of monsters: you will have understood it, the concept of small creatures does not is never far and precisely, this funny Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! remains in the animal domain.
It is therefore a resolutely arcade game that does not actually date from yesterday: the first time he showed up was on Nintendo 3DS in 2013 on the eShop, under the name Pocket Card Jockey. A year later, it landed on mobile in Japan, before being abandoned in 2015. This episode Ride On! just announced will therefore be released on iOS via the Apple Arcade in a few days.
Ride once, ride forever
Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! is therefore a game that mixes the card game of solitaire with horse racing : yes, we are quite far from Pikachu and his friends, but the goal here is to suit especially the mobile market. This new episode will offer an identical concept to that of the Pocket Card Jockey already released, but with 3D modeled races and new graphics.
It probably won’t speak to everyone, but the arrival on the market of a new Game Freak game other than a Pokémon necessarily deserves a look. The app will be available on iOS via Apple Arcade on January 20, 2023. Gameplay can be enjoyed in our video player, above.
