It’s no longer a secret that Avatar: The Way of Water is riding a huge wave of success. Since its theatrical release in December last year, director James Cameron’s film has already broken several records, and the income has long been in the ten-digit range. But that’s not all: the blockbuster has now reached another major milestone.
Avatar 2 is in the all-time top 10
According to a recent report by Box Office Mojo magazine, Avatar: The Way of Water not only hit the $1.5 billion mark last Thursday, it actually surpassed it. To be precise, the film’s global earnings are now $1.517 billion. That’s an impressive number on its own, but it has additional meaning. Avatar 2 has made it into the all-time top 10, making it one of the ten most successful films of all time.
He overtook Fast & Furious 7, which ranked 10th with $1.515 billion so far. The success story of Avatar: The Way of Water does not seem to be over, however, because there are several films within reach that can still be caught up in the near future. The Avengers is currently in 9th place with a gross of $1.518 billion, followed by The Lion King with $1.663 billion. In a few weeks, Avatar 2 might climb one position or another.
