Almost immediately after the announcement that France would transfer AMX-10 RC wheeled “tanks” and Bastion armored vehicles to Ukraine, similar messages from other Ukrainian allies were not long in coming.
According to Reuters, citing two US officials, the new US military aid package will include about 50 Bradley IFVs. The total cost of this aid package to fight Russian aggression will be about $2.8 billion. The aid package for Ukraine is expected to be announced on Friday, officials said.
Bradley
The development of the Bradley BMP began in the mid-1960s, and the combat vehicle became operational in 1981. It is designed to transport motorized infantry units to the battlefield and provide them with fire support during combat. The infantry fighting vehicle is equipped with a turret with a 25 mm Bushmaster cannon, a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun, and two TOW anti-tank missile launchers. Although the Bradley is not a tank, it can effectively fill the role of a “tank killer”. Anti-tank missiles have a large range of destruction, and high maneuverability and speed make it possible to advance to firing positions and leave them.

In addition, the German government decided to provide Ukraine with an additional battery of the Patriot air defense system and the Marder infantry fighting vehicle. This was announced on the evening of January 5 after a telephone conversation between US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Patriot
Patriot is an American anti-aircraft missile system designed for air defense at medium and high altitudes. It has been used since 1981 by the US Army and its allies. The Patriot SAM consists of an air interception missile and a high-performance radar system. The complex can be used to intercept enemy aircraft and missiles, including ballistic ones. Depending on the size of the target, Patriot can detect them at a distance of up to 180 km and simultaneously track up to 125 targets. The detection time is stated to be 8-10 seconds. Up to 6 missiles can be guided simultaneously.
Marder
BMP Marder is a kind of analogue of the BMP Bradley. This combat vehicle has a 20 mm RH 202 automatic cannon, a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun and a MILAN missile system, it can carry up to 7 fighters. The BMP can also be effectively used to support infantry operations and destroy enemy tanks. However, this is an older design compared to the Bradley. Development of the Marder began in 1960, and production from the end of 1969. Since 2010, the Marder has been gradually replaced by the more modern Puma BMP in the German Armed Forces.
Currently, there are about 10 modifications of the BMP Marder, which differ in armament, level of protection, size of the troop compartment, and additional equipment. It is not yet known which modification of the BMP Germany will transfer to Ukraine and in what quantity.
