In celebration of the Steam Awards 2022, Cyberpunk 2077which in recent months has become the protagonist of a real rebirth after the release of Edgerunners on Netflix and the publication of the latest updates edited by CD Projekt, was awarded the Act of Love award, assigned after the vote of the ‘user.
The accolade goes to those games that have received exemplary post-launch support, even long after their original launch. In contention, in addition to the open world of CD Projekt RED, there were also DOTA 2, Project Zomboid, No Man’s Skye Deep Rock Galactic.
If at first glance this could suggest a peace now made between the players and CD Projekt, it seems that this is not exactly the case. On Steam are flocking to the new ones negative reviews about Cyberpunk 2077 (most published in the last few days are positive anyway), with several users on a rampage for the prize that the other players have entrusted to the title of CD Projekt. Many do not send word and see the Edgerunners success as a lightning rod for the game’s shortcomings:
“He won the Act of Love just because of the show and nothing else“, for example declared a user. And again: “0 content has been added to this game in 2 years compared to any other candidate. The game is still rubbish and will continue to be until the company fixes its sh***.” “Shocking how a decent animated adaptation can lead so many people to think the source material is worth pardoning, let alone rewarding it as An Act of Love ‘”.
It is clear that the team still has a lot to do before fully healing the relationship with the community, inevitably compromised due to the problematic launch of Cyberpunk 2077which among other things will cost CD Projekt $1.87 million in its lawsuit.
