Better known for its tools of all kinds, the Black & Decker brand created a surprise at CES in Las Vegas by presenting a cocktail machine capable of automating the preparation of alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks. The latter, called Bev, should arrive on the market this year.
If paying 12 euros on a terrace in Paris to drink a Virgin Piña Colada makes you want to throw yourself in the Seine (yes, we know, it’s not just the capital in life, but you have figured out the principle) you can always prepare your own cocktails at home. However, this process can quickly become tedious if all your friends decide to invite themselves to your small personal bar.
If you recognize yourself in this portrait, then it is possible that Black & Decker has a solution for you. We’re not talking about a jigsaw to cut out your hangover here, but about the Bev, a machine intended to automatically prepare cocktails at home. An unexpected proposal that the tool brand presented this week at CES in Las Vegas.
Your Virgin Mojito prepared automatically
The Bev by Black + Decker Cordless Cocktail Maker bills itself as a battery-operated “autonomous bartender” who should be able to brew up to 250 drinks in a single charge. Inside, it is possible to install six bottles to multiply the preparations: cocktails or mocktails, with or without alcohol, it’s totally up to you. In addition to bottles, the machine supports capsules that allow you to add flavors to the mixture : for example, mint for a Virgin Mojito.
It should be noted that this machine is not the first of its kind since the manufacturer Keurig has been offering one since 2015, the Bartesian. The capsules used by the Black & Decker model are, moreover, exactly the same.
A cocktail machine that also knows how to party
To make the Bev something more than a simple machine for serving drinks, Black & Decker has decided to integrate a “party mode” with “a rainbow of colors that lights up under the bottles”. What set the mood in the evening, in any case, we imagine.
Black & Decker has announced plans to launch the wireless Bev in the US market in the spring of 2023, at a price expected to be around 400 dollars. A wired version is also announced, for 300 dollars. For the time being, we do not know at all if such a device will be available in Europe, but what we do know, however, is that it will have to be used in moderation.
