It is a notification-style message that appears in the lower right corner and as such may go unnoticed by many users. However, it is very important that you pay attention. Is that if when we open Gmail to Google send the notification that the account is being used elsewhere we could be really in danger. So we’ll explain to you what to do if this happens.
Gmail: account used elsewhere? Be careful!
We are very well using Gmail and suddenly a message appears in the lower right corner of the screen. There we can read the following: “At this moment, this account is being used elsewhere”. Now if you are using Gmail on your computer and smartphone at the same time, you don’t have to worry. Now otherwise, if you’re not even doing anything on your phone and it’s kept in your pocket then you really have to worry.
The first thing to do is click on the details button to see who might be using your Gmail.
When we click on it, another window opens where we can see the type of access. Now that’s where we’re going to find out. In the new window we have the type of access, the location of the IP address and the date and time. Now the date and time is perhaps the most revealing. If a lot of hits appear, especially at hours that don’t make sense then it’s a big warning sign!
Someone accessed my Google account and they’re reading emails?
If what you really want to know is whether someone has accessed your Google account, nothing simpler. That said, you have to go to https://myactivity.google.com/. There you can view the history across all devices and Google services like YouTube, Google Maps, Google Play and more.
However, you can go even further and see which devices are linked to your account and it’s all simpler. First, click on Google Account. Then on the left side tab click on Security. There you can see recent activity and devices that are connected.
Fully secure your Google account
The first thing you have to do is go to the management of your Google account. You can access here. After entering your data and logging in. Later, when you get to the account management window, choose the Security option in the left-hand menu. The images I present here are from the desktop version. But if you’re on a smartphone or tablet you can do everything exactly the same way.
On the new page, locate the Sign in to Google section. Inside it, you can see the Two-Step Validation option. Choose this option.
In the new window click on introduction. However, afterwards, you will have to log in again.
After entering your details, you will arrive at the screen shown below. Meanwhile, the devices that can receive requests will appear. In practice, they are those where you are authenticated with your Google account. In my case it’s the iPhone, but it could be any other Android smartphone. Press continue.
Once you press continue you will receive an order on your smartphone. You just have to say yes. At that time the login will be approved.
However, if you lose your cell phone or your second step is not available, you will need an alternative option to access your account. That said, just set up a contact number and choose whether you want verification to be done via Text Message or Phone Call.
Then press send. This after entering the number. Meanwhile, at that time, you receive an SMS with a code that you must enter on the platform. So from that moment on, just confirm everything and you’re already protected. So you can be sure that no one will enter your account.
That said, then be aware of the notification we mentioned above in Gmail. Forewarned user is worth two.
