HTC managed to get ahead of Apple and has just launched its new Vive XR Elite AR/VR headset.
The new headset arrives at a high price, as will happen with the Apple headset, but with features that are not limited to entertainment.
HTC Vive XR Elite AR/RV headset arrives at over $1,000
In other times, HTC was known for its smartphones aimed at productivity, but recently it started to bet on the Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality market with the launch of some headsets.
Now it has just officially presented its latest model, the Vive XR Elite AR/VR that hits the market with a price tag of over $1,000, more specifically $1,099. According to the brand’s website, in Europe the model will cost 1,449 euros.
The brand manages to anticipate the launch of Apple’s AR/VR headset and presents an equally high price that promises to take this new hi-tech segment to the premium championship.
Like previous models from HTC, the new headset supports several games and software, but it doesn’t stop there. The Vive Elite XR also has several productivity-oriented features.
Weighing just 625 grams, the device provides mixed reality functionality with multiple color cameras and a depth sensor to improve user situational awareness.
The model is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 SoC processor and has 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage capacity.
For each eye there is 2K resolution, with a diagonal field of view of 110 degrees and a refresh rate of 90 Hz.
The new Vive XR Elite also has a “glasses mode” that allows you to remove the strap and battery and replace them with a pair of plastic pieces that attach to your ear. This simple operation will reduce the equipment’s weight by 240 grams.
The new HTC headset has now been officially presented by the brand, but it will only hit store shelves at the end of February 2023. At the moment, pre-bookings for this equipment are already open on the brand’s international website.
