In response to the expansion of Xbox Game Pass, Sony launched the revamp of its PlayStation Plus subscription service last summer in order to be more complete and above all more competitive. This resulted in the creation of two additional subscription tiers: PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra. In addition to access to cloud saves, online play and a selection of monthly games, these new subscriptions entitle you to the catalog of PS Now games in addition to a few exclusives such as game trials and exclusive discounts. If the prices could seem prohibitive at the announcement, it is not uncommon to come across regular promotions and this is the case at the start of the year with up to 40% reduction on subscriptions of 3 and 12 month.

If the PS+ Essential does not change in price, both PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscriptions are available on sale: the PS+ Extra is at 24,99 euros instead of 39.99 euros over 3 months and 59,99 euros instead of 99.99 per year. the PS+ Premium is at 34,99 euros over 3 months instead of 49.99 euros and 79,99 euros instead of 119.99 per year. These promotions are valid until January 14, 2023. Note that these offers are only available to members who do not have a current subscription. And PS+ is finally getting interesting
The PlayStation Plus service, for PS4 and PS5 consoles, brings together the old PS Plus and PS Now. Behind this new name are three subscription offers intended for use on Sony consoles, as well as on PC. These packages thus combine the old PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now services, and the advantages offered are numerous: online games, catalog of recent or older games, cloud service, exclusive discounts… the subscription will quickly pay for itself.
Offers adapted to your uses
The subscription Extra offers the same advantages as the Essential. It allows you to download two to four games for free each month, some of which are exclusive to the PS5, to obtain discounts on games or DLC in the PS Store, to obtain exclusive content, to store your saves in the cloud (100 GB of space) and online access to play co-op or multiplayer with your friends or other players around the world, to take advantage of the aids for PlayStation Studios games on PS5. It is also possible to take advantage of the shared game offered with certain titles which allow you to play the same game with your friends remotely as if you were handing over the controller. And your party guest doesn’t need to own the game to play it with you. PS5 players also have access to the PlayStation Plus Collection of some twenty great PS4 hits (God of War, The Last of Us, the Uncharted saga, Ratchet & Clank, Detroit Become Human, Call of Duty Black Ops 3, Days Gone, Fallout 4, etc). Extra adds around 400 PS4 and PS5 games to download, from the PlayStation Studios catalog, but also from third-party publishers. There are several games already present via the PS Plus Collection, as well as older games, but also Ubisoft + Classics games.
The subscription Premium meanwhile is aptly named. It combines the advantages of the first two levels and outbids with the arrival of 340 additional titles promised. These will include PS3 games that can be streamed in the cloud, classic PlayStation, PS2 and PSP games that can be streamed or downloaded. PS4 games from the PlayStation Plus Extra offer can also be streamed. This is more or less what we found with the PlayStation Now offer which gave pride of place to PlayStation retrogaming, with games that could be played in the cloud on PS4, PS5 and PC.
