CES in Las Vegas is the home of innovation and the event could not miss a well-known manufacturer that in recent years has been dominating the market with its smart TVs. Let’s talk about LG with its OLEDs that are updated to the 2023 range.
The Korean manufacturer has gone big, presenting novelties for all TV families. They range from the cheaper A3 and B3 models, passing through the more commercial C3 and G3 versions, up to those with 8K resolution of the Z3 family. Let’s go and discover them all.
LG OLED Evo Z3
Let’s start with the super luxury model, theLG OLED Evo Z3 is an OLED that stands out from all the others on the market for its 8K resolution. We are talking about the best of the best that can be found on the market, but it is not a product suitable for everyone. This is because it will only be available in 77″ and 88″ cuts, and given the size it will certainly not be within the reach of all budgets.
Being the absolute top-of-the-range model, it integrates the best of the technologies that LG has available starting from a OLED Evo panel that guarantees a very high level of brightness and at the same time perfect blacks and infinite contrast. Unlike all LED and QLED TVs and monitors, the black pixels of an OLED panel turn off completely. To better understand what this means, just try an OLED display in a dark room, and you will literally see the TV ‘vanish’ and blend into its surroundings. Which is impossible to do with LED TVs.
In addition to LG’s best OLED panel, the Z3 will also adopt the new generation Alpha 9 Gen6 microprocessor which will take care of better managing the apps, the TV functions and all the image enhancement options also through AI Picture Pro.
This TV, as well as the G3 and C3 models that we will present to you below, are equipped with all HDMI 2.1 features for next-gen gaming with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. We are talking about 120Hz refresh rate, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) which synchronizes framerate and refresh rate, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) which minimizes game latency by disabling all unnecessary functions, AMD Free-Sync Premium and NVIDIA G-Sync for PC gamers. And finally Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for lovers of cinema and TV series.
LG OLED Evo G3
The LG OLED Evo G3 are the new smart TVs of the “Gallery” family, i.e. the super-thin ones designed specifically for wall installation, just as if it were a painting! And the effect will be just that thanks to a maximum thickness of about 2cm.
This family in particular adopts LG’s best 4K OLED Evo panels, complete with technology Brightness Booster Max which increases the maximum brightness by 70%up to 2,000 Nits.
Will not miss the Alpha 9 Gen6 microprocessor, the same installed on the Z3 modelsand which will take care of better managing the apps, TV functions and all the image enhancement options also through AI Picture Pro.
The availability of formats is very wide. It starts from 55″, then passes through 65″, 77″, 83″, and also 97″ only for the European market.
All G3s, similarly to the Z3s, will have full HDMI 2.1 functions for playing with PS5 and Xbox Series X. And therefore 120Hz refresh rate, VRR, ALLM, AMD Free-Sync Premium, NVIDIA G-Sync, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
LG OLED Evo C3
Let’s now move on to the more widely used mid-range model, the C3 series gives up none of the features of the G3 model except compactness. This family is designed to be used mainly resting on its stand, even if it can easily be mounted on the wall or on an extendable arm using the classic universal VESA attachment.
Also on this model is adopted the Alpha 9 Gen6 microprocessor, the same installed on the Z3 and G3 modelsand which will take care of better managing the apps, TV functions and all the image enhancement options also through AI Picture Pro.
The range of formats available is very wide. It starts from the smallest at 42″ up to 83″, thus satisfying the size and space needs of every living room.
For value for money, they will be the ideal models that best suit everyone’s pockets, without having to give up any functionality. In fact, both in gaming and in watching movies and TV series, all the HDMI 2.1 functions will be present to play with PS5 and Xbox Series X. And therefore refresh rate at 120Hz, VRR, ALLM, AMD Free-Sync Premium, NVIDIA G-Sync Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
LG OLED A3 is OLED B3
For those who are not interested in having the non plus ultra of OLEDs and above all are not a gaming enthusiast, you can easily compromise and aim for cheaper but they have everything you need to fully enjoy content such as movies and TV series.
So no 120Hz Evo panel and no gaming features, but it doesn’t matter because it is a fundamental premise in choosing these models. But this in no way prevents you from playing with PS5 and Xbox Series X, because the HDMI 2.1 ports are still present.
The variety is reduced a little compared to the range offered by the C3, aiming for the best-selling ones. Therefore, for the B3 family we will find displays with 55″, 65″ and 77″ diagonals, while for the A3 family there is also a model with a 48″ diagonal.
Prices and Availability
At the moment LG has not yet revealed the prices of the 2023 range of OLED smart TVsthis is because there are still several weeks left before the official launch. The new TVs will also be available in Italy from spring 2023we will therefore have to wait a few more months before being able to bring them home.
